Here's how Joyful Marketing changed my life…

Before

The year was 2015.

I was burnt out from my career in nonprofits, and trying to make my dream of being a full-time tarot-reading hypnotist take off.

And I LOVED the work.

Clients would leave my office crying tears of joy and healing after a past-life regression session. One client followed the advice I gave her in a tarot reading and told me it made her $20,000 overnight.

I knew this was the work I was meant to do.

There was just one problem. I was broke as fuck, because the clients came very, very intermittently.

For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get more people to actually find me and pay me.

Conventional marketing advice made me feel uncomfortable, morally compromised, or like a caricature of myself. I was resentful I had to bother with something like marketing at all.

But I knew I had to figure SOMETHING out.. because – unfortunately – no employer was gonna hire me to do hypnosis and tarot full time.

So I went on a mission to figure it out.

Simone laughing with red paint smeared on her cheek, text overlay: I help you feel so much less terrible getting through life!
Simone sitting on the floor in a colorful floral top, shuffling a tarot deck surrounded by oracle card boxes and incense
Simone taking a wide-eyed selfie in her car, text overlay: “You just solved my entire love life” - client. I love my job.

After

A few years later, I made my first million dollars. With something like 400 people in my entire audience.

Since then, my business has made more than $10 million. I’ve donated more than $1 million to humanitarian and environmental causes. This work has supported my family, supported a team, and helped thousands of other people make money from work they care deeply about.

Here are the two things I figured out that changed everything:

1. Marketing isn’t complicated. It’s simple.

Marketing feels complicated because there is an entire industry built around getting you to distrust yourself.

It makes manipulative, complicated schemes look more “sophisticated” than the basic human interactions we are all born knowing how to have.

My five-year-old son has never taken a marketing course, but he still knows how to get curious about another person, say hello, and invite them to play.

Two toddlers digging in the sand together with a blue bucket
A little boy proudly holding up a construction-paper flower craft he made

Children also know how to just… make things and share them. You make a flower with paper, and you run over to show mommy.

That’s show-and-tell. That’s marketing.

Marketing can be dead ass simple.

But unlearning all the complicated nonsense piled on top of it? Yeah, that can take a minute.

2. Marketing isn’t something you have to do that takes you away from your REAL work. It can be an extension of what you already love doing.

Marketing can be where your “real work” starts – before someone ever buys from you.

If you’re an artist, marketing can be another way of making something that expresses your aliveness and moves people.

If you’re a therapist, it can be another opportunity to help someone understand themselves, feel less pain, and get more of what they want out of life.

If you sell physical products, marketing can be another part of the experience you’re creating around the thing itself.

That’s how marketing stops being some separate thing you “have to do.”

In other words: you become the Creative Director + Spiritual Director of your own marketing. So, how do you actually become that?

I created an entire course to answer that question.

Meet Joyful Marketing 2.0.

Inside Joyful Marketing, you learn how to create irresistible offers, communicate clearly, build trust, make sales, and troubleshoot what isn’t working.

But the technical skills are only half of it. You also learn more about yourself – your style, your values, your mission – so that your marketing can amplify who you already are and what you’re already here to do.

One of my students, Hasse Cox, called it “a permission slip to do marketing in a way that feels true to you.”

And by the way? This isn’t just the feel-good version of marketing. It gets real results.

2,000+ students have been through the original Joyful Marketing, released in 2020.

  • Some learned how to make their very first sale.
  • Some used it to book out their calendars.
  • And then there were the 7-figure business owners – people who already knew how to make money – who told me this work gave them permission to breathe, re-align, and fall in love with their businesses again.

Now I’ve rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up. And it’s more effective than ever before.

“Joyful Marketing is worth so much more than its weight in gold. Consults come in after I post. My revenue keeps going up and I don’t feel like I’m ‘selling, selling, selling.’ I KNOW that I’m serving and my clients keep coming. Signed another client today.

And all my marketing fears are gone. Not because of the client. The client came because the fear is gone. I’m feeling JOYFUL.”

Fanny Broholm

“Joyful Marketing is the end of your search for marketing wisdom. A lot of marketers write ‘this is the only marketing course you’ll need’ - but JM literally is that.

It not only teaches you everything you need to sell your offers, it teaches you to become more of who you truly are - and to show up imperfectly and unapologetically as that.

When you do that, then dream clients, raving fans, perfect-fit collaborators and soul-aligned friends show up easily and naturally.”

Fanny Broholm

Don’t let the name “Joyful Marketing” fool you.

Joyful does not mean shallow, easy, or endlessly comfortable.

Sometimes this work is confronting as hell. Visibility has a way of bringing you face-to-face with all the places you learned it was safer to hide, perform, please, or wait for somebody else’s permission.

That’s part of the work, too.

If your work has been placed in your hands for a reason – by your life, your community, your lineage – then marketing isn’t just about getting more people to pay attention.

It’s about developing the capacity to carry that attention skillfully.

So that you can...

  • say what is true, instead of what is safe and popular.
  • be misunderstood, and find out that you can survive it.
  • take responsibility for the influence you have, and trust yourself to learn + grow from any missteps.

Watch me talk about how marketing asks not just for your dedication, but devotion.

Read the transcript

My friends, we can no longer understand marketing as marketing. We have to understand marketing as answering an ancestral assignment – stepping into your responsibility to lead, because you carry a gift. Yes, but it’s not just a gift – it’s also a responsibility. How you hold that and carry that, that is marketing.

A marketing course can’t teach you just information and tips and tricks and instructions anymore. It has to give you the technology to access that which is alive in you, and build the scaffolding for you to listen to it, honor it, and transmit it in the way that only you can.

You build an internal relational architecture between yourself and your mind, your nervous system, the spirit of your business – one that is robust and steady enough to hold that relational weight that you’re going to need to carry as someone who steps out into visibility. Visibility is important, but it’s not free. It carries weight, and that weight is one of relational responsibility.

Most people who try to be visible online are trying to do it without the internal structure that is necessary to hold that weight of responsibility, which is why so many people burn out after trying to contort themselves and perform. So this program isn’t about teaching you how to be visible. It’s teaching you how to build a structure inside that naturally supports that visibility.

And I want to tell you that your offer is also not just a commodity. It’s the place where your gift becomes available to the world – and the selling of it, the talking about it, the inviting people into it, asks you to assume a posture that’s closer to devotion than just commerce. And don’t get me wrong, we’re not above commerce – we’ve got to do commerce. But devotion is the only posture that can carry both the craft that you’re going to need and the steadiness of spirit that you’re going to be asked to summon. Anything short of that is not going to be strong enough to carry the weight.

Here’s the whole curriculum.

“I didn’t even get through all of Joyful Marketing because the first few things I tried from the workbooks worked out well enough for me to finally make a ‘real’ living off of my coaching, design, and research services. Like… it’s that good. You might find a gem from the jump.”

Cassie Anderson

“Simone’s work helped me align my ethical self with my job as a coach, to soothe most of the ick I felt around marketing. No more ‘overcoming objections’ and all the predatory feelings that came with it. Simone’s programs make that work feel… joyful.”

Cassie Anderson

Victoria Farris

“With perfectly curated content readily available via AI, JM has helped anchor me to my creativity and my imperfect, but joyful content. It’s part how-to and part permission slip, and it is without a doubt the best purchase I have ever made for my business.”

Victoria Farris

Maureen Cotton

“I bought the course when I was a solopreneur 5 years ago who ‘hated marketing.’ It felt like a distraction from my purpose-driven work.

But this course and conversation unlocked something in me that caught fire and now I am (joyfully) a VP of Marketing at a nonprofit!”

Maureen Cotton

My student Katy May told me: “Joyful Marketing is my happy place on the internet.”

And that’s by design.

I wanted the place where you do the work to feel warm, generous, and alive – because the best material in the world can’t help you much if you never want to open it.

The hand-drawn illustrations, the choose-your-own-adventure format, the tools + little discoveries... they make Joyful Marketing feel less like a “course” and more like a place to rest, play, explore, and come home to yourself.

So you actually do the work long enough to get really, really good at it.

Simone Grace Seol

Hi, I’m Simone Grace Seol.

I’m an opinionated Korean auntie, squishy-hearted business teacher, writer, and host of the Liberatory Business podcast. I live in Seoul with my family.

I was fortunate to have been raised in a deeply Korean worldview – one that taught me to see life as relational. Everything is alive, everything is interdependent, and our choices in life must honor our ancestors and care for our descendants.

That also gave me a profound hunger to understand the spiritual dimensions of being human. So before I ever entertained a single thought about business, I wanted to be a theologian.

I studied religion and went to seminary before realizing I was more interested in working with actual human beings in the messiness of real life. That took me through public health, nonprofits, hypnosis, tarot, and eventually, teaching marketing.

There have been many chapters of my path, but the same question has driven me the entire way: how do we live in greater wholeness, aliveness, and beauty?

Joyful Marketing is my fullest answer to that question, right now.

What Joyful Marketing can change – and what it can’t.

Can you market less, sound more like yourself, and still make it easier for the right people to find and buy from you?

Read the complete transcript

If only I could just do my work and not have to bother with marketing and have the right people find me anyway. Here’s the truth: joyful marketing doesn’t make people be able to find you without you doing anything. Nothing does. You still have to show up. But it does teach you how to do the least amount of the right kind of work, because the people that you actually want are going to find you faster when what you’re putting out carries the truth of who you are and what’s alive inside of you – instead of contorting yourself for maximum commodification and optimization to reach as many of whoever as possible. Here is what I can tell you: we’ll still have to put work out, but you’ll spend less time doing it, and the right people are going to find you sooner.

People also say, if only I could stop having to do the whole social media dance. And believe me, I get it. And the truth is, this program does not give you permission to just not have to bother with posting – you probably do still need to be findable somehow, somewhere. But it’ll absolutely free you from the whole dance of performing relevance, urgency, the daily content grind, chasing the algorithm and the trends and the formulas. You learn how to make work that’s worth making once, and then it keeps compounding on itself. You’re going to learn that it’s not only okay, but a good thing, for you to pull back and go quiet when that’s what the spirit of your business is asking you for. The performance of having to be someone you’re not, always having to be on, working at a pace that doesn’t actually match you – that’s what this course gives you permission to drop for good.

I also hear people say, if only my words could just come out carrying the magic of what’s actually inside of me. And I want you to know: this is learnable. This is what Module 3 inside the program is about. And here’s the uncomfortable truth – most people whose words come out a little flat are actually flattening themselves a little bit on the way to the page. They’re translating themselves into “the marketing voice,” and what’s getting lost in the translation is the magic of their true voice. Joyful marketing will teach you how to stop doing that whole translation.

People also tell me, if only I could do this without ever having to fear coming across sleazy or salesy or annoying. Now, here’s the uncomfortable truth: most of the sleaziness that people fear comes from doing things that are, in fact, a little bit sleazy – manufacturing urgency, overhyped promises, manipulation in disguise. These things are a little sleazy. This program teaches you to make offers and sell them in ways that are genuinely not any of those things, which means the fear has nothing to feed on. In fact, Organic Urgency is the name of a literal lesson inside the curriculum – I teach you how to tap into organic urgency, which replaces manufactured urgency. The internal practice there – I even call it the devotional posture – also matters, because some of the sleaze-fear is somatic, and it doesn’t just go away because you’re trying to be clean. The program tends to all of this.

And lastly, you might be thinking, if only I could find a teacher who really gets it, and other people who are doing it in a way that I want to be doing it. My friend, I am that teacher. And people who gather around this work are people who want to be doing it a different way, and are doing it a different way, because my work tends to attract people like that. You’re going to find both. The community is designed specifically for this – this is truly a place where everyone is practicing sovereignty out loud, witnessing each other, supporting each other, and truly building a new culture of commerce.

Kavita Popli

“I used to call myself social media shy and never posted anything.

Joyful Marketing has been a huge source of relief in understanding the shame, embarrassment, and fear that came up when I started sharing – and learning to accept myself and feel safe in claiming my right to express what’s true for me. The program truly felt like a spiritual process.”

“Joyful Marketing was the best investment I have made for my coaching practice and for my personal development.

I went from pressure, heaviness, and ‘needing to figure it out’ to playful, exploratory, and adaptable.

Simone's content continues to challenge my thinking and offer invaluable tools, even years later.”

Rashida Bonds

“The beauty and the blessing of Joyful Marketing is that it has an answer for just about every concern your brain can bring up.

Whenever my brain has gone back into the good old-fashioned rut of, ‘Who do I think I am? Who am I actually talking to? What am I gonna say?’ I go back to Joyful Marketing. It grounds me and reminds me that marketing doesn’t have to be mysterious, and that the world deserves to know about the work that I’m doing.”

Rashida Bonds

Mimi Martin

“Joyful Marketing felt like an initiation of sorts. Simone so radically celebrated the trust in herself, in the people around her, that she gave such amazing permission for me to trust myself too. In JM, that quirky weird human that is SO MUCH MORE strange than I ever want to admit, who has been hiding in the shadows of my mind my entire life, was celebrated to come forward…

JM and Simone have helped me understand that there is a different way to relate with my business, with my life, with my ancestry, with the earth, and all the peoples on it.”

Two years inside Joyful Marketing

“Before Joyful Marketing, it could take me up to four hours to write a single post. I was tangled up in perfectionism, fear of judgment, overthinking, and not trusting myself.

Joyful Marketing was a game changer. Simone helped me stop making myself wrong for being human and taught me how to work with myself instead of constantly fighting against myself.

I began sharing more authentically, my engagement went up, and people started reaching out to tell me how deeply my work resonated with them. Then I booked my first client. Soon, more clients followed. Over time, I built a fully booked practice.

Simone gave me something I hadn’t found anywhere else: the ability to trust myself, move through the hard parts without making them mean I wasn’t capable, and keep finding my way forward. Most of all, she gave me permission to take up space.”

Lori Krikorian

You don’t outgrow this work when your business gets bigger.

Students tell me they return to Joyful Marketing year after year. Here’s why: the same skills matter at every stage of business. They just take on different forms as you grow.

For example… making offers might START with you learning how to pitch someone without squirming inside. When you’re more established, it might look more like figuring out how to position a new premium product when you’ve already built your business on lower-priced offers.

The question of how to build trust changes, too. At first, the question might be: “how do I help someone feel safe hiring me?” Later, it might be: “how do I go through a major transition – a new direction, a growth spurt – without losing the trust I’ve spent years building?”

And troubleshooting never really goes away, either. In the beginning, you might be troubleshooting to figure out why you aren’t getting more eyeballs on your offer. Later, you might be staring at something that worked so well forever and trying to figure out why it suddenly… doesn’t. (Yup, this happens. All the time.)

That’s what I teach inside Joyful Marketing – evergreen skills you keep coming back to as your body of work evolves and your business matures.

Jennifer Kruidbos

“I’ve never experienced a marketing program that was SO STRONG on the trifecta of marketing/business skills, PLUS a truly spiritual approach rooted in service, PLUS concrete grounded examples of what service looks like.”

Jennifer Kruidbos

Augustine Blaisdell

“Simone and Joyful Marketing gave me a deep shift in how to connect with my audience and make marketing truly joyful and fun. The concepts and illustrations inside are pure gold.

It set me up to have such a stellar foundation not only for my own business but also for life. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent.”

Augustine Blaisdell

Daniel Lim

“This doesn’t feel like an updated version of the original. It feels like an entirely new course.

Everything I loved about Joyful Marketing has been multiplied by 1,000, with even more delight, depth, clarity, upliftment and Simone-ness woven through every bit of it. The love and care that has clearly gone into this entire overhaul – it’s all ridiculously delightful.”

Daniel Lim

Nelao Dal Bosco

“It feels like walking into someone’s house and immediately wanting to take your shoes off, find the softest blanket, put your feet up, open your notebook and stay for a while.

The illustrations, the little doors, the Oracle, the invitations to play, the Korean and mystical influences, the little creatures, the fact that you can wander rather than always being marched through a perfectly linear curriculum.”

How Joyful Marketing works

Is there an ongoing community beyond the six live calls?

Six live coaching calls are included. What I’m not promising is an indefinitely ongoing, moderated community, and I want to tell you why.

I love being with my students. I love hanging out, getting to know each other, having deep coaching conversations, and growing together. I absolutely want there to be room for that around Joyful Marketing.

I also care a lot about building this in a way that feels generous and sustainable for everyone involved. It’s important for me to model, and teach, on how to create non-extractive business cultures. To me, that means reciprocity flowing in all directions. Caring about each other’s capacity and well-being on a human level, beyond the question of, How much value can I get? How much access can I have? What else can I receive for what I paid?

Because Joyful Marketing is a one-time-payment program with access for the life of the program, it did not feel sustainable to me to promise an endless schedule of calls and community moderation until the day I die.

There may absolutely be live gatherings, community experiments, and seasons when I feel inspired to be very present. I just cannot make any promises about that.

What I can promise is that I’m treating Joyful Marketing as an ongoing experiment in a question I care about very much: what does genuine generosity and meaningful community look like when it also honors the humanity, capacity, and well-being of everyone involved?

And I hope that’s a question that we can all grow with in JM, together.

Do I need any special technology? Can I use it on my phone, or print it?

Everything opens in your browser, on any device.

You can read the lessons, listen to the audio, watch the videos, read the transcripts, use the interactive tools, write directly in the digital workbook, or download the print edition and write in the workbook by hand.

If you’d like Joyful Marketing to behave more like an app, you can add it to your phone’s home screen and open it with a tap. The instructions for that are inside.

Everything you write into the digital workbook saves to your account, so it’s there on every device you log in from.

I’m neurodivergent and easily overwhelmed. Will this be easy to follow?

This is one of the things I thought about hardest in the rebuild.

You never have to hunt for the “right” lesson. You can browse by category, describe what’s going on in your own words, or let the Oracle choose for you. You’re not required to march through a linear curriculum – you can go get the one thing you need.

Every lesson also comes in multiple formats. Read it, listen to it, watch it, write in it, or print it. If audio is where your attention goes, it’s there. If you’d rather read than listen, there are transcripts.

And the material itself takes different brains, nervous systems, energy levels, and capacities seriously. There are lessons on making progress when your capacity changes, getting your nervous system on your side, and honoring the way your own brain actually works.

I took the original Joyful Marketing. Is this actually new?

Yes.

The curriculum entirely re-written, new art, new tools, and completely new ways to move through the material – forty-five lessons and nearly fifty thousand words of it.

It also gathers up what I’ve learned since the original Joyful Marketing, so threads from years of my teaching now live together in one place.

And if you were a member of the original Joyful Marketing or HOME, you already have Joyful Marketing 2.0. Complimentary, our gift to you.

We’ve reached out to everyone, and most people are already inside – but if our email didn’t reach you, write to support@simonegraceseol.com and we’ll get you set up.

Is this for me?

Is this for me if I’m not a coach?

Yes. This is not a course for coaches.

Students have used this work across all kinds of businesses and bodies of work: artists, therapists, healers, designers, illustrators, consultants, nonprofit leaders, organizers, researchers, product businesses, fundraisers, and people building communities.

The skills underneath – finding your people, making an offer without the ick, saying what’s true in your own voice, and figuring out why something isn’t landing – don’t change based on what you do for a living.

If you make something and there are humans on the other end you want to reach, this work applies.

My business is already working. Will this still be useful for me?

Yes. You don’t outgrow this work when your business gets bigger. It changes shape.

Learning how to experiment and troubleshoot matters when you’re selling your first offer. It still matters when something that worked for years suddenly stops working and you need to figure out why.

What I teach inside Joyful Marketing is what I used to build a business for the first time and is what I still rely on, many years and thousands of students later. It keeps asking me to grow alongside my body of work: to question whether what’s successful still feels right, trust my integrity enough to change direction, and keep growing my ability to create, influence and sell beyond what I already know I’m good at.
